3 Simple DIY to Make your College Stay Simpler

Homemade projects are the difference between a simple residence and a unique home.

College can be incredibly hard, and I’m not saying that to scare you. Back in my college days, I found out that, sometimes, simple things can get real hard if you don’t find alternatives to make it easier for you. Organization, time and rest are things that are hard to achieve if you are not careful and don’t work actively to make them a part of your life. That’s why when you decide to enroll in a university or college, it’s time to take on the alternatives that are going to make your life easier.

For your organization, a DIY bulletin board
Papers, notes, pictures and important dates scattered around? Use this idea to make sure to have them all at hand when you need them!
  • Paintframe.
  • Patterned or unicolor fabric.
  • Thumb tacks.
  • Scissors.
  • Assorted adornments.
Take your fabric and stretch it over. Make sure to keep it straight while doing so, and cut around the frame, leave enough fabric to tuck behind the structure of the frame. Then use the thumb tacks to keep them in place. If you get a hold on an upholstery stapler, then use it. You can use it to place notes or important info. As an extra, you can also put some sort of attractive ribbon crisscrossed to make something more interesting.

For your wardrobe, a DIY Makeshift closet/organizer
We all need to have our clothes and things organized. That’s why it’s ideal for you to have a portable and interesting alternative when it comes to organizing your closet.
  • Metal pipes.
  • Pipe cutter
  • Metal pipes junctures.
  • Wooden base.
  • Extra: Wheels, hooks and wooden planks.
Measure the pipes and create pairs for the base. Design it according to your needs, with one or two racks. You can also check some ideas on Pinterest to get a more visual approach to this particular idea. Then cut and join with the junctures and attach to the wooden base with a juncture designed to fixate the pipes. You can paint them with acrylic paint in gold, silver or another coloring. As an extra, you can add wheels to the wooden base and you’ll have a movable accessory for your room. If you want to make it even more modern, design it so you can use it as an organizer for shoes and accessories adding extra wooden planks as shelving and hooks as places to hang your things.

For your health, a DIY survival kit
Staying healthy and fighting off diseases like the flu is hard when you have a ton of things to do like fixing something broken or a loose button. That’s why having a survival kit for college will make your life incredibly easier.
  • Stomach ache pills.
  • Band-aids.
  • Headache pills.
  • Flu pills.
  • Emergency sewing kit.
  • Scissors.
  • Sweets (caramel or chocolate do the trick).
You can keep this in your dorm, and carry a small pouch in your backpack every day. You’ll never know when these items might come in handy in an emergency situation.
