| Before test season, you need to prepare yourself in order to ace those tests! |
I’m sure you can relate: nerves, the dread of not having enough hours during the day and the feeling that maybe, just maybe, you should have put a little bit extra effort in your study sessions before the test. All college students have been there: they feel like, sometimes, the fact that they have to study and do a million other things can make test times feel like a war between nerves and control. Most of the time, the sole winner is the former. What can you do to get a grip when you are just starting your test times? Or when you are facing a single big scary term? Well, let me offer you some handy tips that helped me keep a grip on all the stress and that managed to impulse me to perform better on every single test.
Snack bag
Yes, I know it's the last thing on your mind when it comes to test time, but truth is your brain needs fuel to perform, and snacks are the way to get it when you’re in a hurry. When you’re hungry, you are less likely to pick up or remember your ideas. That’s why you need to make sure to have a snack while studying.
Notes
We’ve talked about the importance of using notes for college students, and test time is where they get the chance to shine. You need to think coherently: there’s no efficient way in which you can learn four complete subjects in less than 24 hours. That’s what notes are for, they are resumes for the lessons you attended. Your notes work as a simple object to make you catch up and refresh your knowledge before a test.
Something fun
Do you enjoy music, puzzles, videos? Take your preferred and handy hobby before a test. Why? You need to shake off your nerves because they’re often the reason why people fail when facing a test. You might have studied, but if you are nervous, there’s less chance of really achieving the goal.
Pencil case
Sounds unlikely, but sometimes you can miss the little details. More often than not, college students are so nervous and distracted before a test that they completely miss the responsibility of acquiring the things that will help them take the test itself.
Hydrating
Keeping your body hydrated helps it perform better not only physically, but also mentally. Not being hydrated leads to tiredness and bad mood, that’s why it’s so important for you to have water, juice or some healthy beverage at hand. Avoid sodas and liquor, because, although they are indeed liquids, they do not help your body hydrate properly, and in fact, they can dehydrate you.
Here at Marconi International University, we recommend students to carry the important elements for them to perform perfectly at their test. With the right physical and mental preparation, they will achieve their academic goals in the blink of an eye! What are you going to take with you during test time?
