Bullet Journal: Should you Have one?

Today is the day when you should start using bullet journals.

Journals are not a new thing. They’ve been ways for people to keep tabs on their responsibilities and to check the activities they need to complete throughout their routines. But in more recent times, a different version of those old notebooks and agendas have been taking the world by storm. How? Bullet journals! They are not a new method, but the craze around them it’s perfectly justified. They work as tools for people to jot down their lives and tasks, both current and future, this, in turn, makes it easier to keep track of them. The best thing about bullet journals is that they are incredibly simple to start and once you get used to the symbols, it will become your best friend.

For college students, carrying an extra notebook in their bags and using a pen and paper, to keep track of their assignments, might sound a bit old school considering the fact that they have electronic devices and apps to do the same job for them. But in fact, the advantage of bullet journals is in their practice nature. Once you own one, I can assure you that every single app you use will feel completely impractical, as writing it down on something physical and checking it like you would do on a smart device will prove to be more productive, and the best thing, the battery will never die off on you when you need it the most!

What’s a bullet journal?
A bullet journal it’s incredible for everyone! The main reason for this it’s the simple nature of it. This way of taking notes it’s simple because they are coded bulleted lists. The item used to mark another one has a particular meaning for the person who writes it down. They indicate urgency and importance, it can also mean the time in which it has to be done, and what area of our life it belongs to. The most interesting thing about this system is that you create a personal key for every item and you can identify them right away from a quick view into your bullet journal.

The main components of a bullet journal are:
  • Future log: Events in a year-long view. Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, seminars, etc,  can be logged in here. With a glance, you can check what’s coming and be prepared. They help you avoid forgetting important dates and vacations too.
  • Monthly log: Those simple calendars with the days jotted down? Well, that’s exactly it! It allows you to keep track of specifics in a monthly period. Ideally, they should be the next thing you check when you open your bullet journal every day.
